Not a fan of outdoor kitchens or cramped cabins. I like to have some escape from the elements, especially when cooking and eating. Christina and I were just talking about having a couple tiny houses instead of one big house (each with its own function). Our climate might give a good reason to break the "integrate rather than separate" rule. It seems much easier to ventilate/cool a few smaller structures than a single large one. Maybe where winter was longer and the primary energy cost is heating it would make more sense to have a single structure though.
